Hi all,

i'm new to the forum and am in the market for a 997 2 S, it will be my first Porsche

Sorry if this topic has been touched on before, but the car i have in mind comes with most toys except BOSE and sports crono.

How good is the standard stereo..? and by not having these 2 options how much of an impact do you think it will have come resale..?

I know i shouldn't be thinking about resale before i've even bought the car but its something to bear in mind..?

Bose is a must, sports Chrono is a preference, one you missed. Sports exhaust with Chrono is an absolute IMHO

Hi all,
How good is the standard stereo..?

Frankly... crap, you need at least the sound pack but preferably Bose.

I do think Porsche shoot themselves in the foot with the terrible standard stereo, whilst we all love the driving most of us like to listen to music sometimes & on a £60k+ car you expect the stereo to match a VW Golf, it doesn't, so you are "stimulated" to spend more money on an upgrade that should be standard!!!!

thanks for the feeback guys.. can i ask why you think Chrono is a must..? is that come resale or is it just an option you couln't live without now..?

good point on the sports exhaust!

I personally couldnt live with that awful glue on clock on the dashboard that the sports chrono brings, luckily my car didnt have the chrono, but did have the Bose.
Its not a bad sound system at all.

Hi. Also thinking of changing to 997; does anyone know if you can get the stereo upgraded if the car has the standard system?

Sports chrono is much more than just the clock. Full details in an article in this thread: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=262468&mpage=1&key=Chrono&#262483
