Bog standard 997 tested in todays Autocar and in every department its rave reviews everything has moved up and on ... ie ride, handling, performance, gear change, quality, fit and finish, etc etc ... "Never before has a machine so successfully combined so many attributes under one roof" the journo writes.

But as ever the writer has to have his "911" bitch :ROFLMAO: "I hope I am wrong. And a part of me hopes Porsche continues to make better and better 911's until the end of time. But maybe, just maybe, it could be time to call it a day; to move on and design something genuinely new which carries a different number from the one we know and love. Otherwise someone, somewhere, might just accuse Porsche of running out of good ideas"

So I guess Steve Sutcliffe doesn't consider the Boxster or Cayenne as good ideas [] And despite writing hundreds and hundreds of words praising the new 997 the journo just has to end his article with his own personal views or should that be b*ll*x

I drove the Carrera and S models back to back at the weekend - had a press on drive [8|] with both and the brakes on the S are far more reassuring.
The Autocar test car had the ceramics fitted which make the brake dept a whole lot different.
The S is far more 'on the button' IMO
