The 997 TT appears to be well specified but one standard fit item is the sunroof which cannot be deleted from the UK spec and therefore save £850. Although it is fitted as standard, you actually have to pay for it. I understand it is something to do with EU type approval but can Porsche 'force' the buyer to take an option they don't want and don't want to pay for? A steel sunroof is a pointless option in my view (glass would have been better).

It's funny how things change. Back in the 1980s the sunroof was a 'must have' option. Nowadays it seems few people want them. Main objections:
- Puts weight where you don't want it (high in the car)
- Reduces head room
- Reduces structural stiffness
- Tendancy to rattle
- Doesn't really work (causes internal turbulance)
- Aircon/Climate does a better job
- Spoils exterior roof line
- Costs extra (usually)
Must say the 'tilt' facility is useful for hearing the exhaust note, but I'd rather have a sports exhaust.
