Be gentle chaps, looking at some turbos at mo and having a think

Some questions - what's the diff between the engines - gen 1 Metzger? gt1 derived engine, is gen2 a dfi engine - any big differences between the two
I've read that the gen 1 engine generally described as bomb proof, how's the gen 2 engine

I've had a pdk 997 4s previously and loved the box, what's the tiptronic box like with 5 gears.

Did the tip come with over boost? is that why there's a lot compared to manuals?

Apart from the usual and radiators, anything to look out for ?

Any other info most welcome

thanks in advance

Jon

I have owned a Gen 1 tt with tiptronic and currrently own a Gen II PDK. Whilst the tip box has some nice features the PDK is far superior to drive, with its fast changes whereas the tip changes in a more "slurred" manner because of the torque convertor. The "bomb proof" Metzger engine was a bonus but is not much of a benefit if you aren't going to go down the aftermarket tuning route.

I enjoyed both cars but prefer the Gen II. These are my personal opinions and I am sure there are others who will disagree with me [;)] .

Had a Turbo S 997 Gen 1 tip, loved the performance simple amazing , still say in a straight line quickest car I have owned. But hated the Tip gearbox so sloppy in the end after 9 months sold it because of that one reason .
