997 Turbo Cargraphics exhaust...

Hello all

I recently took delivery of a used 997 Turbo, which I have to say is a fabulous car.

When I test drove it, it had a cargraphics exhaust on it, however Porsche Silverstone would not sell it to me with the exhaust on due to being unsure about warranty issues...

Anyway, I have the exhaust and want to get it put on, but is there any know issues with Cargraphics exhausts? From what I can make out its a fairly good quality exhaust increasing power and more importantly NOISE! (one fault about the turbo, its quite quiet...)

Anyway, would be keen to hear if anyone has any experience in these matters...i guess I'm unsure if i should put on or not, ie is it going to damage the car? I'm assuming not...

Cheers

Pietro

Known issues with Cargraphic exhausts - its loud!

Fitting it will invalidate your warranty but like you I'd expect it not to damage your car.

Cargraphic make high quality products, so the odds are on you won't have a problem but there is always a risk, however small, that something associated could go wrong.

Personally I'd run with the current exhaust until the warranty is up and then have the cargraphic one fitted[:D]

Alex will hopefully be along shortly andoffer his advice, he has the exhaust system fitted [8D]
and if anything has to be said.. it sounds superb

I will be doing the same when my warranty is finished.

Some experiences of mine: http://www.rennteam.com/forum/thread/431404/My_Cargraphic_powerkit_conversion/page1.html

You will get a bit of resonance between 2800 and 3000 rpm, which is fine everywhere but on a motorway. Other than that - I would say one of the best things about my car.

Judging by your kit listing you have an aftermarket exhaust...any problems with that?

No, just better noise and combined with the other changes a lot more power and torque [:D]

Incidentally the Milltek exhaust also has a slight boom around 3k rev's which is not perfect for motorways but acts as an additional warning that your speed might be creeping up

Ditto on Gary's comments - Alex's exhaust sounds fantastic.

Thanks for the link Alex, going to look in detail later, but general impression is that its great all round! :)

Parr were the company that originally fitted it before Porsche Silverstone took it off so thats reassuring too.

@garyw @OKellyT I think I might just got for it now, I can't wait to get the exhaust on...I'm missing out on that lovely noise...

I think the car needs it as thats my only gripe with it, the fact it sounds a bit ordinary...

It is a great exhaust, enjoy it

If you come down to a few 997 register events you and Alex can give us a stereo cargraphic performance :ROFLMAO:

I was out testing routes up't north the other weekend and came across something to add that little bit of fun/switzerland to the trip [:D]

Tell you what, if this temperature keeps up for much longer then I will have to break my tuning-ceasefire and go purchase some upgraded Intercoolers!

Ah,, I feel the weakness in you. Soon you will give yourself fully to the dark side[:D]

Once you start tinkering, you don't stop........
