997 Turbo production figures

Hi

Does anybody know how many 997 turbos were produced split by Gen 1/Gen 2, color and transmission?

According to the figures in 911 World, between 2005-2009 globally there were 18,201 997 Gen I Turbos produced. Between 2010-2012, there were 3,800 997 Gen II Turbos produced.

If you go to the government vehicle registration service (https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/vehicle-statistics) the numbers are pretty rubbery, as there are a plethora of different variants listed. However, as far as I can tell, between 2005-2009 there were 2,314 Turbos (of any kind) registered in the UK. Between 2010-2012, there were 343 Turbos (of any kind) registered.

One might reasonably assume that the UK got about 13% global allocation of the Gen I's and about 9% of the global build of Gen II's....those numbers sound about right.

How this breaks down into colours I have no idea. You can see different transmission types on the link....the majority are tiptronics (Gen I) and PDK (semi-automatics; Gen II).

Very interesting, thank you. Surprised there were not more Gen II cars; what's certain is the limited production has done nothing to prop up resale values.

A bit of patience?! I think that the Gen II's are holding up reasonably well, and while not the famed and coveting "last of the aircooled" might be seen as the "last of the analogues"? Well, for steering at least. I still think it is a nicer shape than the 991 and Gen II's might soften a little more, but I suspect won't go as far as the 996's, which are superb value for money at the moment....

I would love a PDK but there not going to be anywhere near my budget in the next couple of years so I'm thinking of a Manual gen1 for 35k+ towards the end of next year, which probably wont go too much lower
 
Don't be put off by a manual. When I was looking I wanted a tiptronic but couldn't find the right one, so in the end went for a manual. The clutch is light and not at all grabby. First is maybe a bit low but after that it's sweet and evenly spaced. Just get a "revs" readout. It's no bother with a Tip but could be trouble in a manual. As I understand it over revs 1 and 2 are no problem, 3 could be( but still gets guaranteed by Porsche), 4 and 5, maybe think again!

thanks for the info Wills, I did drive a friends Tip a couple of weeks ago & as nice as it was I just prefer the sound of the Manual for some (old school) reason.

The PDK/Tip would be an easy option from a daily driver point of view but as previous post the PDK is going to be too far out of reach & im not sure i can live with the Tip
