997 TURBO RE-MAPS

SIMON H

New member
Hello,
Can i ask which, if any, companies you have used to re-map the 997 Turbo?.Any reports on performance increases, or reliability issues would be most welcome.Anybody had a re-map done yet?.Regards, SIMON.[8|]

Hi, I had my 997 tt remaped at paramount-performance.com
The guys there really know there stuff.
I had a Techart race exhaust and filter fitted by Techart, then had paramount rolling road the car and it came out at 530bhp.
Paramount then remapped it and we saw a 90bhp increase to 620bhp!
The cars still driveable every day, much more smoother when in traffic and a rocket when you press the loud peadel!
Heres my post I put up about it

No stock mapped turbo will do over 570/580 brake, I know trust me!!!

Drop me a pm and I will gladly talk to you about it.

I just used this as an example as someone posted about FVD above and I know someone who has this similar spec but different exhaust (Europipe), BTW, FVD have been around a while, their tuning programme is pretty solid.

http://shop.fvd.de/?VID=462506&VCD=45757751&AM=1&SM=1&LM=2&MM=item&AC=item_details&item=FVD997100230&gid=34&sgid=&CarCompany=0&CarType=126==

Now this kit claims max at 610bhp, I can tell you it's more like 590ish (and that's on the limit), this kit compaired to your friends (who claims he has 620 brake) addition has a set of race turbos and a set of race headers, so I really can't see him on 620 like claimed, hell, I think the DMS programme with exhaust is roughly 560/570ish. To achieve 600+ on these motors you really need to start upgrading internals otherwise you are going to have bent rods in no time. I do know this as I have a spare motor currently being upgraded as we speak.

If your friend was running 620, which I seriously doubt as the stock Turbos can't make anywhere near that, I would start doubting the programming!!!

DMS 570 BHP with Ex and 200 cell cats Superb It Makes you smile every time u hit the right foot :)

you cannot get above 590 with standard blowers

PS car is more economical with the DMS as well

Thanks itclear,
How does the exhaust sound?, and if you can remember, the first time you drove it after the mods, did you think it was definately quicker and worth doing?,regards, SIMON.[:D]

Shavster,
How does the car drive now?.Is it the same as before, but obviously more of it, or is the power further up the rev range with a little lag?. When you first had the upgrade, did you get in and think, OMG, this is unreal, or did you think, yes its ok?.Regards, SIMON.[:D]

I posted this on the 997 forum: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=347135

Also relevant here on this thread too though. Would appreciate any feedback [8|]

Try Phil Hindley at Tech 9 for the Techart remap, he's been racing 911's for years and know's what he's doing! See the Tech 9 website at tech9.ms

I have just seen this Stage II package with the Tubi exhaust (best sound I have heard thus far) and Revo chip:

http://www.weltmeister.co.uk/porsche_997_turbo.htm
[blockquote]

Weltmeister DME Programme, BMC Sports Air Filter, Tubi 200 Cell Sports Exhaust

Max. Power - 408kW (555HP) @ 6000rpm
Max. Torque - 745Nm (590lbf ft) @ 4000-4500rpm
Max. Speed - 325km/h
Max. RPM - 7000rpm
Acceleration 0-100km/h - 3.6s

[/blockquote]
Looks pretty good package to me at £4800 given it's about £300 cheaper than getting everything separate. To compare, the Cargraphic 544bhp powerkit is nearly £7000 and the Ruf 550bhp powerkit is £8400 and you have to ship you car over to Germany for a week.

Add a £1000 plenum to the mix and you are looking at 570bhp for £5700.

Hmmmm, tempting!!

Also, does anyone have ECU mapping that comes with multi-modes you can select yourself?

eg: http://www.revotechnik.com/products/pdf/SelectPlusPorsche_AdvancedUserGuide_V0906.pdf

[blockquote]

Boost:
Range 0 Valet Mode
Range 1 Stock Boost
Range 6 Performance Boost
Range 9 Aggressive Boost

Timing Adjustment:
Range 0-3 91(US)/95(Euro) Octane Fuel
Range 4-6 93(US)/98(Euro) Octane Fuel
Range 7-9 Unleaded Race Fuel over 100 Octane

Fuel Adjustment:
Range 0 Stock Air-Fuel Ratio (AFR)
Range 9 Performance Air-Fuel Ratio (AFR)

If so is this something you actively use?

Found out that my insurance doesn't go up at all if I have the work done at Parr who are well known to them.

Also Parr have a very large discount offer going right now on the Powerkit, so it seemed rude not to. The web address for those interested:

Alex,
Is their DME loaded with just a generic map, or will they custom map it to your own car when fitted?.What make of exhaust are they fitting.I will probably answer my own questions when i scan Parrs site.Let us know your findings and thoughts, if you get it done.Regards, SIMON.[:D]
