997 Turbo S spoiler failure

Hi - my 997.2 cab has had the dreaded "failure spoiler control" light/beep come on very intermittently for a few years now, but lately it seems to have given up. There's no leakage, only a whirring noise from in between the middle of the two rams when you manually press the spoiler button and its stuck in the down position. The local OPC looked at it and have quoted £9,024 to fix it (not a typo) which includes a new, painted wing as it will likely break they say when they try and remove it. I've looked at Rennkit with their unit and thats coming out around £2,400 fitted or I could order myself direct for £1,350 and get a mate to fit it. The Rennkit option has some good reviews and is a possible option, although the silver rams that connect to the wing itself look less robust and "spindlier".
Anyone have any thoughts on whether to start changing some/all of the hydraulic system itself or just go for the Rennkit option? I'm sure many 997.2 owners have had this problem already and interested to hear what route you took that keeps the car basically as standard.
Thanks,
Rob.

My understanding maybe incorrect you used to be able to get the motor seperate from the hydraulic rams so worth going to a Porsche specialist who can advise acordingly as the rams are not leaking and they are usually the problem.

Thanks Gordon. I have a very helpful local independent Porsche garage and will follow up on your reccomendation.
