997 Turbo S - will it look the same as the Turbo?

Hey guys, by any chance do you think the Turbo S will look more like the new GT2 from the front?

ie. have the Turbo and Turbo S ever differed aesthetically?

I know that Porsche typically releases the S version 2 years after the TT which would make its launch about 2008.

I am just trying to estimate when the Turbo will get a face-lift as I vastly prefer the front end of the GT2 but am not in the market to pay £130k+ for one.

Porsche IMHO also needs to sort out the design of the back of the Turbo, especially in regards to having a dual-pipe PSE and rear LED lights. Perhaps I will have to wait until the 997.5 face-lift or even the 998 TT around 2012"¦

This is the way it's been with the 993 and 996.

Plus the GT2 could be regarded as a different car to a turbo couldn't it - whereas a Turbo S is a Turbo with options/deletions.
 
The 996 Turbo S was unchanged externally, but I think the previous versions used to look different. The 993 Turbo S had different front & rear spoilers, was lowered 30mm, had 4 exhausts, and had air ducts in the rear wings.
The 964 Turbo S was quite different from the standard Turbo as well.
The 993 Turbo S only appeared in 1998, I believe to clear the old stock at the end of the model lifecycle
 
I think that the 996 turbo S was also a run out model as the 997 turbo was on the drawing board. It simply had various "previous options" added as standard, but with a rise in price to compensate! eg x50 engine, heated seats, ceramic brakes, but visually no different as the aero kit was still an extra. I suspect that if a 997 turboS is launched, the 998 turbo won't be far behind.( I think the 998 development cars have already been spied), so if the 998 carrera is launched in 2008 there is likely to be a Turbo in 2009, so you are right, a 997 turbo S is probably likely in 2008. Don't forget if the Turbo is to remain the highest performing volume production car for Porsche,(and best value supercar) they need to keep moving it on, not only to compete with the opposition (such as Audi, to be launched with a V8 but it is going to get a V10) but also from internal competition as Porsche also need to bring out a club sport, perhaps even turbo charged version of the Cayman in order to keep ahead of the game in that market.
Personally I will stick to a 911 turbo (god, money and the wife permitting) as it is far more practical to use daily than any other "super car"( oh, and apart from looking absoluely the dogs gonads).
