Next event is our annual 997 register trip to Reading.

This year it's Saturday 21st July, and as ever we'll be hosted by Geoff Turral and Vicky Watkins from Porsche GB. This is always a great trip behind the scenes at Porsche HQ, and a fascinating insight into the both the history of Porsche and plans for the future. If you've read the Andy Goss interview in Porsche Post you'll see his comments that they may be leaving Reading behind as their HQ in the near future.

We're the only register to get invited annually and it's a cracking day out. This trip is always an excellent example of how the club is so well supported by Porsche. There's normally a special preview of something new - last year we we're shown the Turbo and first RHD GT3 - but this year I've no idea what it could be. More details nearer the day, but normal timings would be 10:30 - 1:30 with lunch provided.

You're welcome to bring a guest, but numbers are strictly limited so first come first served. You can post below to register your interest, but no one will be confirmed until they've e-mailed me their name, guest name and registration number which I have to collate for security on site - 997@porscheclubgb.com

Look forward to seeing you there !

Thanks

Rob

Sometimes Rob is unable to collect mail during the day, however I'm sure he'll let you know when he gets home...

Now fully booked, but please e-mail and register your interest and I'll add you to the reserve list.

Thanks

Rob

I'm looking forward to this! Even booked my summer holiday with this in mind to avoid conflict (and my invite from GB to Carrera Cup at Donny)

I hope the weather tomorrow is not like it is today. We have torrential rains here in Reading today, most of the A and B roads are now flooded.

Weather forecast says it should clear by this evening. Fingers crossed they are right or even I will need a boat to get to the OPC and I live 5 mins away.

Alex,

So those of us with the best part of a 4hr drive are in trouble then !

I will stay home I'm afraid unless things improve dramtically overnight.

Well the rain stopped mid-afternoon, and the street outside my house is now bone-dry.

So assuming the rains don't recommence I think you should be ok.

I can only stay for an hour or so tomorrow as I have to dash off for a tennis match at lunchtime so hopefully I will get to say a flying hello...

Guys,

We have decided to stay at home this time for various reasons.

Sorry for the late notice but there will be two free places vacated by us if anyone else is wanting to go ?

Any more info, something interesting on display?

Was a great presentation, I am sorry I had to rush off early.

I did grab Wayne at lunch and he told me something that totally made my day: Porsche are actively working on a Sports Exhaust for the Turbo, and yes it can be retrofitted!! [:)]

Oh and the other thing I found really interesting was the VW/Porsche hybrid engine for the Panamera they are working on that gives same performance figures as the 911 Carreras but can average mid-30s MPG - wow!

Cracking event Rob.
Many thanks for all your efforts in organising this and to Vicki and Wayne at Porsche GB for looking after us so well. :p
Regards,
Clive

Thanks Guys for braving the weather. I thought it would be a write-off but as always it was a fascinating and enjoyable trip !

For those who missed it, look out for our article in the September PP...

Rob, agree with you on the customer service side of things. I think you can see the guys who actually work for Porsche are passionate, but this doesn't translate to dealer staff and their customer service attitude, something which we've all experienced.

Nice day out, thanks Rob for organising. Nice to meet Jason and speak at length too (jbecker).

Excellent insight into the future and pleased that Wayne was able to directly answer various questions surrounding fuels, transmissions etc for the future.
