997S Rear Spoiler making creaking noise when going up/down?

Hi Guys

Does anyone have a cure for a noisy rear spoiler on a 997S - it sounds pretty awful when going up and down and sounds like it needs lubrication of some kind.

I have OPC warranty, would this be something they would fix under warranty?

Nice one in advance for any help :)

Mine sounds exactly the same, but as it only goes up and down when I'm driving it, I don't bother because nobody can hear it .... and I'm not one of these people who plays with the button in traffic [;)]

Stick it into the dealers, they'll fix it either way, you have warranty for that...

I rang my local OPC to book the car in to get this creaky spoiler repaired under warranty and the service chap told me that it is only covered under warranty if actual spoiler parts need replacing. He said if it needs adjustment then it is not covered and I will have to pay.

Now that does not seem fair to me, what is the point in having such a comprehensive warranty when they potentially can turn around and say you must pay for it.

My guess is as the spoiler is only creaking that they will say it needs adjustment/lubrication and then proceed to charge me a no doubt extortionate amount for labour and oils used.

Bunch of thieves.

Why pre-judge the outcome before you know what the diagnosis is? You might be pleasantly surprised.[:)]

It's good to see the 997 taking on some vintage character! 993 spoilers sound like a coffee grinder when they go back down (like you say, you can't hear them when they rise due to the engine music).
