9J X 17 Rims all round..good idea??

Hi,

I have the opportunity to upgrade my rims to 9J X 17 both front and back the offset is correct at 55 is this a good idea?[8|]

This is probably a very bad idea indeed as I think you will have big problems with 255/40/17s rubbing both the suspension and the arches. The widest rims I have seen for a 964 are 8" but these are the 18" ones. With a standard 964 probably 7 1/2" is as wide as you want to go and even then you may have problems..

I think my original reply was just a tad more subtle than yours - even if we were trying to say the same thing....

I assume you are running 16" wheels hence the question. If you want to move to 17" wheels I would go for correct 7 and 9 inch cup 2 wheels which are not expensive to aquire.

You're havin' a larrff, aren't you ?? [:)]

Tell you what, get your kitchen scales and go and measure how much weight is on each wheel. Then open all the lids in the car, see which end the engine is in.

If all the wheels carry roughly the same weight, or your engine is in front of the windscreen, you should be fine ...[;)]

My oh my ! cheers, Maurice [X(]

Maurice I think you have been out in the fog for too long [8D]
