A call to the other owners of 1975 911S Targa Cars

As the owner of a 1975 911S Targa (H series) (Chassis series 911531****) I am very interested to contact the 8 other owners of this model in the UK.

Currently, according to the DVLA there are 7 models registered and taxed (as at June 2014) and 2 registered and on the SORN list. I should also pay a massive thank you to the PCGB 2.7 Registrar, Guy White who has been helpful and patient with my questions. Thanks Guy!

If you are one of the lucky ones to own one of these cars please contact me and let me know the state of your car, I would like to share as much information as possible.

I am currently arranging for my car to be restored back to its original condition and I am trying to assemble as much original information about the models as possible. This restoration is scheduled for Jan/Feb 2015, slot booked at Canford Classics.

Below is a quick synopsis of my car and its condition.

Body "" very solid with negligible surface rust. It was the subject of a major restoration in 1990 and has had very little use since that time. However we have discovered that some non-original panels were used in this restoration and in all probability these will be changed to Porsche parts during the next makeover. All the chrome outer parts are currently Black (in places)!

Paintwork "" To say the least patchy, it's suffering from pain contamination with a number of small bubbles here and there. Experts tell me this is as a result of poor preparation at a previous re-spray.

Interior "" This where the major "Fiddling" has been done. The Certificate of Authenticity shows the car was made with a Red Madras Check inlay interior. It is now Black!! The aim is to restore the car back to the Red interior. (This is the area that is going to cause the major problem due to lack of or limited availability of materials).

Engine and Gearbox "" Original matching numbers and both in good condition.

Suspension and brakes "" Tired!

I have been advised that I need to try and get a copy (or photocopies) of the 1975 Interior and Trim Brochure, which is the brochure that contains the details and pictures of the interior. If anyone has knowledge of the location of a copy please let me know.
Thanks
Tom

I can't claim to be an expert but did some research for a project I abandoned. The Madras cloth predates the 1975 model year I believe so it could well be your car had the red tartan cloth seat centres. That is available here CarTex They also stock the Madras cloth but only in brown and blue Madras cloth

Indeed, The Red Madras Check was used between 1974 and 1977 according to the books held by Southbound. I am looking for the Red Madras Check (This is as listed on the Certificate of Authenticity for my car). Also the Red leatherette, which is also a bit like teeth on chickens!!!
