A few issues

Hi guys,

When I took my car out yesterday evening I noticed that the Air con control panel / display has a couple of dead zones on the first number, I'm assuming the cold or moisture has got in it. It's annoying and I want to fix it.

I've looked on ebay for a unit, but there seem to only be a few, they are in the states and none of them are shown working. I don't really want to buy a second hand one and be back in a similar position after the hassle of fitting it. Does anyone know of a fix, or alternatively a trust worthy place to get one from?

Also my side skirts seem to have picked up a few stones in them, then are not quite flush with the car in a couple of areas. I noticed in the history a while ago that stones were cleared out and they were refitted by an OPC (quite some time ago, about 6 years ago I believe). Does anyone know if this is common? I understand the skirts should slide onto a rail, but it looks like mine have had some of the double-sided fixing tape applied underneath at the top to marry it up to the body perhaps after clearing out the stones before. I want to clear them out but do not want to flex the skirts or damage any paintwork as there are some small stones wedged between the edge of the skirts and the body, any ideas?

Last but not least, before I purchased the car a few years ago it had x2 new rads and 1x condenser, not sure why they didn't replace the other, I just took the bumper off for the annual checking of leaves and the like behind the bumper, I noticed the core of the condenser they didn't replace looks a bit tatty at the bottom and darker (possible stained or some small leakage?), I hadn't noticed before but did see it was older than the rest. The air con is still working, but I'm going to replace this so they are all in perfect condition while I've got the bumper off and use it as an excuse to service the system. It looks pretty straight forward, just a case of popping the hoses off and attaching the new ones I assume, but do I require any special seals?

I've also got a local chap I know who can come and empty the system for free and will re-gas for only £45.00, so that seems like a bit of a bargain too.

Any tips or advice appreciated.

Cheers!

I don't know if there is a UK source, but this is what you need for the aircon panel: http://modulemaster.com/en/services/porsche_lcd_kit.html

I believe the side skirts are partly held on with double-sided tape. If you can dig out TSB 3/00 6315, it shows how they are fixed. email me if you can't find it.

You'll just meed a pair of new 'o' rings on the condenser inlet and outlet pipe, which are a few pence from an OPC, or may be supplied with the condenser.

Thanks, I've seen a couple of similar kits on ebay from the states, might be worth a punt to see if it works out. I was hoping there might be somewhere a little more local though.

I'll take a look for the TSB and order up the o-rings if it doesn't come with them :)

Cheers
