A few little part questions

I am trying to sort out all the little problems with the car.

First on my hit list is to sort a few rattles out inside. The drivers window rattles if part way down, so I stripped all the door card of to investigate. This is hard to explain, the runner that holds the glass nearest to the door handle has a screw/bolt missing from the top, this lets the whole runner and glass rattle about. It's very hard to get to and I have no idea what size screw/bolt should fit. If anyone has a parts manual that says what size it should be, I can then get a replacement.

Also when I go over a bump the top middle of the dash rattles, well more of a bang like something missing from holding it in place, anyone any ideas?

Lastly the boot rattles a bit not bad seems to get worse as the car warms up. But I can't get the boot pins to adjust, I have undone the lock nut but then the pin refuses to budge. Any tips on doing this?

One other thing what tyre pressures to you guys run? I have 17" cups and I had been away on holiday so when I got back I checked the tyre pressures and but 32 in all round, but now it feels the car moves around a lot on its rear tyres. I have Good year F1's on it and before it felt bolted to the road.

Had this with the boot pins on mine. Unfortunatelly they either take a lot of persiverence but normally break or benmd. Easiest way is to replace the pins, this is not expensive even from a main dealer, think mine came to no more than £20 with pins and also the rubber block they go into.

Recommended tyre pressures vary from model to model. Taking a look at your avatar photo, I guess you're driving a late year 2.5 Lux, oval-dash? Someone else can probably confirm this, but from memory I think you should be on 35psi rear and only 26psi front. It's only the Turbo (and maybe S2) that had Porsche recommend higher pressures all round.

Can't help you with the window or dash rattle, but if the boot still rattles after new pins then a new boot seal has much more cushioning than an old semi-perished one. A new seal made mine whisper quiet [:)]

17" wheels were never standard on a 944, but the 968 pressures for 17" wheels were 36 psi all round. I tend to run 32f and 34r as 36psi tends to wear out the centre of the tyre.

Yes it is a late model lux, oval dash. Thanks for the help, I will try putting some more wind in the rears to see if that helps.
Just when I think I am getting on top of things some arse has clipped my wing mirror. I have tried and tried to get the brass thing with the spring on it to screw back in, either I just can't get enough force on it or the thread has stripped. Anyone got any tips on getting these back together?

With regard to the rattling window & missing screw, it is hard to get to & there isn't an another way apart from maybe removing the winder mechanism. Have a root around the bottom of the door though, you may find the missing screw there or attached to the back of a speaker magnet.

After getting the search to work, I will set too with the mirror tomorrow. Sounds like it needs more force so the whole thing will have to come off.

Just had the door card off today thinking it needed to come off the get to the wing mirror bolts, doh. It really doesn't need 300 screws to hold it on. If the screw for the window had fallen out then doesn't the door have drain holes in the bottom? So the screw probably long gone.

Are you near Husband Crawley, Woburn this Saturday? I know there will be a 924/944 clearout stand with doors/mirrors etc. How do I know cos I'll be helping my neighbour load his van on Friday evening and there is about 3 cars worth of spares, plus some good interior parts.
