Still trying to track one of these down to have a look at , only one that has come up recently in in cumbria and that is about as far away from me as you can get :(. Anyway my questions are as follows as i have only drive a 924S so not sure what the old 1980/1 models come with?

Do they have Electric windows / mirros / roof etc?
is central locking standard or non existant on a 1980 car?
are all the turbos fully galvanised or just form the later years?
last thing Power steering is that something that was introduced on the later 924S?

Thats it on the probably daft questions sorry, i hunted around the web and not finding much info on this sort of stuff.

Hello there,

Welcome to the forum. I have a series 1 and am about to buy another one. I have done quite a bit of looking up in books and build sheets and specifications and period tuners on the turbo, so if you would like to have a chat over the phone, do not hesitate to pm me your number. I'm happy to make some time for you.

Alternatively, John (924 nutter) is a walking encyclopedia as well as Geoff who knows a thing or two as well!!

;)

My first Porsche was a 924 Turbo it had done more miles than the Space Shuttle, I loved the bones of that car. Highly underrated Porker, get a good one you will not regret it. [;)]

Electric windows and mirrors lift out / prop up roof.

No central locking.

All galvanised .

No power steering. As you say introduced on the 924S.

US models have much lower power and the early US models have drum rear brakes these are quickly identifiable by their 4 stud wheels. The US cars run standard 924 chassis and have an output of 145 BHP. With the extra weight they are hardly more impressive than a standard 924.

One question you did not ask. Some cars have air conditioning.

thanks for all that, i guess central locking is something that can be added afterwards maybe in conjunction with a good alarm system? I assume the 924 has no alarm just imoboliser another thing i forgot to ask.
