... and has ran across my keyboard.

He also left me a note ....

'Which region has the most events posted on the club website'?

'R29 Surrey' you're all thinking.

No longer [:D]

The hamster did say he would be back to finish off [;)]

Seriously still work in progress but with a little extra effort they can look like this:

The region 'home page' has also been updated (You will need your club user-name/password for this):

At first glance I was thinking "So, them Surrey folk are a sociable bunch" but then closer inspection reveals delights such as a trip to Slough and a bingo night.[:D]

I reckon our healthy diet outings to FatBoys and ACE beats them hands down...[8D]

I was thinking of 'Fine Dining at the ROY' followed by 'Real Ale night at the ROY' the month after, but then I woke up! [:D]

Where's Freddie Starr when you need him? [;)]

I assume that was tongue in cheek! The food at ROY was s**t last time I went. Really bad. Has something changed?

Very much tongue in cheek [:D]

Reworded events: 'Pukka pie night at the ROY' and 'White Label night at the ROY'

We are looking at other options that work for those who attend the ROY and our 'London' members.

Not to mention awfui service - last time there the young bartender refused to accept a £5 note just coz he thought he looked tatty. Really offensive individual.

It's a Sam Smith pub and they seem not to give a damn (one near my office is the same).

Red Lion in Barnes has a big car park and is Fullers pub. Top beer, great food, good landlord.

other suggestions?

From wiki

'The brewery operates over 300 pubs which are notable for their independence: The beers are all produced by the Tadcaster brewery and no large-corporation spirits or soft-drinks are available. Prices are kept minimal by only increasing in line with alcohol duty and inflation increases. In the year 2000, Samuel Smiths began phasing out the branding from their pubs and in November 2004 the company took the decision to ban music in its pubs to save Performing Rights levy.

Samuel Smith still delivers multiple-trip (re-usable) bottles in beer crates. In 2007 the company began to sell frozen meals made by Sarah Brownridge in their pubs.

Then, in 2008, all franchise pubs were switched to 'company catering'. Now, all Samuel Smiths pubs that serve food, sell Sarah Brownridge frozen food.

Further to the company phasing out brands from their pubs, all pubs now sell Samuel Smiths branded crisps. These are made by Walkers.'

Just looked at googlemaps and the car park is an 'American Car' dealership or has that changed?

Glad to hear I am not the only one not keen on the ROY!

I've not been back since I ate one of their pies! Wine and beer grim too - and service miserable.

The place is less fun than your average morgue.

I admit it has a car park .. but.... Sorry can't help out with a better suggestion - nothing worse than us whingers who complain but don't suggest something better.

That's still there on the front and provides overflow space outside business hours.

It has a sizeable car park behind the garage.

Bit closer to central London than Richmond but that make it more accessible for some of those north of the river?

Inside it's all open fires and homely stuff. In summer big garden with BBQ's etc.

Re Richmond locations... The MX-5 Club used to go to the Rose of York ages back. They then moved to the Dysart in Petersham (just up the road). The positives for the Dysart were large car park and good outdoor area in the summer. The negatives were the food was starting to get a bit pricy. (They have since moved further outwards to a beefeater pub which like ROY does not have good food).

We used to meet at the Dysart but the new owners wanted a more upmarket feel to the pub and didn't want Porsche club there. Unless it has changed ownership again i think that one is a no-no.

Dysart is as you describe - it's a restaurant more than pub.

Indeed. We stopped going there after our dog gatherings in Richmond Park as the prices went up with the food not so good, and they were less welcoming. Silly, as the organiser lives next door to the pub and we gave them a lot of business! [&o]
