Hi all,
I have a 2000 2.7. On inspection of removing the three pieces of plastic around the battery compartment after reading numerous articles on water I was not overly suprised to see some rust, leaves and general gunk in the area. In addition the tape that houses much of the wiring loom had disintegrated.
I bought a new reel of tape from Ebay, A second hand clean battery box housing from a great source of parts near to the M1 J 24 and set to clean everything out which I have done and re taped the wiring. Worthwhile tip is that when disconecting the battery leave the ignition lights on ( and on re -connect) otherwise can cause the alarm going off on its own reserve. Don't forget to find your radio code before any of this.
Common problem I am told a clean up some minor sanding primer, coat and were back in business.
Thought I would share that with you all.
Kind regards
Paul
