A mystery switch ! ,whats it for??

Can anyone help me here, I dont know what ive got !!
On my centre console (S2 oval dash) ,I have the usual switches (sunroof / mirror adjust / door locking /etc), but I have an extra original fit on/off switch to the far left (passenger side) that is connected to an LED that only illuminates when the ignition is on as I found out yesterday
Ive had a snoop about and cant see what the hell it does (if anything).and is connected to an original harness plug etc so its not some botch job in its past.
I originally thought it was an LED for the alarm but its not tied into it (i dont think !) and only works the flashing LED with the ignition on .
Any ideas ? as its starting to annoy me now (in case its something worthwhile knowing about)

Cheers
Andy.

Unmarked switch in the position you mention is usually to turn off the internal sensors for the Porsche-fitted alarm (meaning you can leave the windows and sunroof open when the alarm is set.) I've never heard of it being hooked up to an LED tho'.

As post above, on my S2 the switch described turns off the internal sensors for the alarm - alarm was a factory fitted system. Also it does have a red LED fitted into the console just below the switch, LED flashing indicates the alarm sensors are off.

Makes sense, thanks for the replies guys!
Pity it wasnt for something more exciting though[8|]

It could be made MUCH more exciting if you want it to. All you need is a soldering iron and the necessary hardware.

Some suggestions to provoke your imagination:

Rocket Launcher?

Flame Thrower?

Ejector Seat?

(Just please don't suggest Nitrous ... only an idiot would put Nitrous on a Porsche. Oh, someone already did ... [] )
