I was told that there was a classic car show on at Biggar so i persuaded the good lady a meal out if she came along ,as it would not be an all day affair she agreed and anything that got her out of cooking was all right by her. We dully set out and drove down the M74 in what can only be described as a biblical storm ,we decided to press on and as we came off the motorway it was down to just cat's and dogs.We arrived in Biggar to wall to wall sunshine and inquired where the show was ,just down the road a local said but take your time it's not till next Sunday .
Well what the hell do you do in Bigar well rather a lot as it turns out ,first stop to a cafe for a latte fix then we hit the high spots .A walk up Brian Lane took us to Gladestone court a Victorian street scene with plenty to see and do. Next door the Albion Archive a interisting insight into the Albion motor and truck company which I did not know was started in Biggar in 1899 ,then onto a visit to the gas works which was still producing gas up untill 1973 when by then north sea gas came on stream and the plant closed down .To be honest we could have spent a lot more time around the town as there are loads of shops and places to see .It was getting on and the good lady was getting a bit peckish so was hinting where we should go for that meal, well as luck would have it there is an award winning fish shop in the town so we saunters up and had a look
bloddy hell £11 for a lemon sole supper and that was for a take away,so we settled for a bag of chips [][] and decided to wait till we got back to E-K and eat out there .but before going home I splashed out on a ice cream cone i know how to look after the ladies So if you find yourself in Biggar take a few hours to enjoy the town there is lots to do.
