A nice thing happened...

So, I'm driving down a dual carriageway and pull into the outside lane to let cars join from the slip road. A nice BMW Z4 pulls immediately out behind me and is close behind but not tailgaiting. I come to a 50mph camera and slow then onto the gas to hear the sweet PSE and he's still in close proximity...another 50mph camera comes and same again. We approach an exit and I'm carrying straight on still in the outside lane...I look in the rear view and see Z4 man floor it and he's coming alongside me on the inside. I'm thinking there's no way he's going to undertake me so apply a bit of gas to edge in front...looking to my left he's gesturing at me and naturally thought that he was annoyed I wasn't letting him past or something...but no, when I slowed slightly (as he was intent on getting my attention)...and here's what was so damn nice...he was giving me the thumbs up, nodding and saying 'nice car'...

I'm posting this because I was utterly gobsmacked. More often than not people see a Porsche driver and stereotype them but here was a guy who obviously loves his cars as I do and it gave me a fantastic feeling...God I love this car!

Nice story Paul,

Thanks for sharing it - put a wry smile on my face.

And yes, a C4S always gets the 'thumbs up'!

Having previously owned a C4S with PSE I'd say its the latter that draws attention, I miss that so much on the Turbo[]

A little while ago a chap drew alongside me at some lights in a new RS4 Avant... he wound the window down and said "fancy a swap?"

I nearly bit his hand off as his car was probably worth £20k more than mine!

A mate of mine in a 348 parked up at a car show a few weeks back. After a few hours a mid 20s girl walked up to him and said 'lovely car, what bodykit is it?' He wasn't sure if she meant did his 348 have some kind of Ferrari upgrade package or something else. Confused he just replied 'It's just a standard spec car' to which she replied 'No I meant what MR2 bodykit did you get, and how much was it?' [:D]
