Hi all you 3.2ers.

I want to tap your knowledge. Does anybody know the definative answer as to whether 3.2 Supersports came with standard 3.2 brake components or with the full 3.3 Turbo brake setup. Specifically which calipers, disks and hubs they came with?

Ian.

sse`s or turbo look, Are a 930 3.3 but without the blower.

That sums it up nicely. So all/most of the suspension and braking components will have 930 part numbers e.g.
Front calipers - 930 351 091/2 03
Front discs - 930 351 047/8 02

Thanks to you both for the confirmation.

Done a bit more research and I see for 1985 and 1986 the car was officially the '3.2 Turbo Look' model and it was only in 1987 with the introduction of the G50 gearbox that it became the 3.2 Super Sport (aka SSE). Both got the full turbo running gear. Prior to 1985 you could order a 3.2 with a turbo body as an option code (but it didn't get all the turbo bits with it).

Managed to find a complete 2nd hand brake, hubs, banana arms set off a car which I would like to use on my early car project hence the interest and the question. Just need to work out if it's off the 85/86 version and therefore will have correct banana arms for the 915 gearbox or if its off the later cars which may be different because of the G50 gearbox.

ORIGINAL: Nick Moss

All 3.2s with the M491 "Turbo Look" had full Turbo running gear.

Except they didnt have the Turbo tie rods ! (well what did you expect for a £10,000 option)
Nick I have been busy but will give you a ring to get to your man on import numbers
Cheers
Simon

Never fit the Tirbo tie-rods, something I did to my SSE, since it only cost about £125 for the parts.

Upset the perfect balance and had to have them removed.

We just bought a 1988 Supersport, and it took a couple of weeks as the car had been fitted (during a service) with the normal calipers which made the brakes squeal like a pig, so had to be changed to the Turbo ones!

If you are doing the front brakes and performance rather than originality is a priority you could consider fitting boxster monobloc callipers , they weigh a whole lot less and are an improvement, not cheap from Autofarm etc but I'm sure someone out there will have a set taken off their car and just waiting to be sold.......
PM me for price if interested [:D] ( fits all 3.2.s)
Mike
