Hopefully they'll spend what you pay them on some axle stands!
I was thinking that this morning .[][][] bloomin cowboys .....home home home on the range where the deer an........[]
Has anyone ever noticed how flat looking the replacement cills are ? are original cills that flat ? maybe once they are sprayed it will blend in .
If I was to be critical I'm not sure that I would want welds between the cill and wing .I thought the wing comes down and butts against the cill I might be wrong.

I was really hoping you guys would say my wee rust problem was standard fair -
Looks pretty much how mine will be when I can afford to have it stripped back....[&o]
I think a lot of people see a little bubble on the outside and have no idea how far it can have spread inside. We need to keep it in perspective, though. How many other cars from the era would be as sound?

I was really hoping you guys would say my wee rust problem was standard fair - kinda guess I bought a nail - well I suspose I shouldn't have bought it unseen off ebay - that said even if I'd seen it, it wouldn't have helped... What I really should have done was read this forum for a while before buying, then I would have bought a "mint" one
no don't beat yourself up about it . Mine must have been at least as bad when I wrote it off. I had a hole in my rear lower wing just like yours. I kept thinking `I'll do that next weekend ' but never did.
If you got the car cheap enough you still have a super bargain. The last of these cars (S2 ) cost nearly £40,000 nearly 20 years ago . Thats a lot of car for the money.

My point entirely. It's a sad fact that most of our cars have dropped in value to the point at which major repairs are not economically viable. When someone calls me to ask whether it's worth having his cills done, and a clutch, and a few bits like fuel lines whilst they're at it, and it's due a belt service inc. water pump, and it's a 1984 Lux with leather seats, it's hard not to suggest selling the seats as they're worth more than the car....[&o]
If you take a more long-term view, you will be driving something this time next year. It might be a 944 that's been well looked after, in which case it's probably going to be a damned sight more fun than anything you could buy under £10k. If it's cost you a few ££££s this year, then remember that proper repairs will be good for decades to come.

So far LIL has cost less than I ever imagined paying for a car - admittedly if you add 2 months insurance and I note I've only seen the car once....
However as the old joke - tonights the night (well tomorow is)
What's more, I love it, my kids love it and secretly my wife loves it too
I will swamp the site with photos when I get LIL back
PS Paul - the next time someone has a car to scrap point them in my direction with the leather seats....

That's the whole point for me with these cars. I'm about to have major work done on mine, and I'm sure a lot more than I already know about will be found along the way.
Lucky for me, my wife insisted on doing the work rather than the other option of getting rid (of the car not her that is[])
