I don't know what's come over me, [&:] I'm not usually an avid car cleaner/polisher.
Maybe it's the fine weather or the time of year, but I suddenly had the urge to give Judy's Macan a spring clean - and a comprehensive one to boot! []
First there was the wash with snow foam, a rinse, then a hand wash with Pdh neutral shampoo, a rinse with the pressure washer, hand dry, then clay all gloss surfaces, followed by a pre-wax clean and finally a good wax polish. Phew- Quite a job really and no wonder people get charged £600 by some for the same treatment. []
Anyway, the car did look a picture when I'd finished - except the wheels were letting it down. So it was off with these and they were given the same treatment - overkill I know, but humour me! []
With the wheels removed, I was quite surprised at the level corrosion that became apparent. The rear brake back plates in particular are badly rusted and need replacing. The front wheels were partially seized onto their hubs due to corrosion - and this on a vehicle not yet 6 months old! [>:]. A bit of careful levering finally had the front wheels off, but left for a few weeks more and it would have presented a major problem.
This may be a common and an unseen problem for other owners, so I would certainly recommend checking, as leaving it until the next service may be too long. []
Regards,
Clive
