AAAHHHH D90 needed !!!

So after stirring up a small storm with my innocent Turbo Twist comment I decided to talk a local friend into storing my car on his ramp while I get the d90's restored.

All was fine until I took the tyres from the rims and realised there were different sized front wheel.

Has anyone got a spare 7jx16 D90 I could buy or swap for a 6j?

Many thanks

Ant

If you struggle try Porscheapart ,I'm sure someone else might have another suggestion for used parts aswell?
Their stuff is always as described and arrives on time maybe a little pricey sometimes?,maybe they could take the one you do have in a s part exchange?

I'd recommend Jasmine - they have a big stock of wheels & I found them reasonable on price.

Failing that, it can't be hard to find a D90 - I bet ph sportscars have some

Also the massive swing back to originality by the 944 brotherhood has created a massive demand for them...(because our cars are so valuable now[:D])

Thanks,

CLUB AUTOSPORT had a 7j 55 on a car in there yard, it was a bit scabby but nothing too bad.

Stroke of luck after discovering a 6j on the car this morning!

Now all 4 are at A1 in Bilston for a refurb, Richard at club autosport recommended them and let me see some of their work.

Will let you know how they turn out.

Bad luck on finding a bastard wheel on your 944 and glad you found a replacement but ... it seems you didn't notice any funny business with tracking or turning with a 6J on one side and a 7J on the other... is that so? Perhaps the negative roll radius designed into our 944s is effective for more than balanced braking...

Well Bruce,

I have only had the car on the road for 6 months and have had to have the tracking looked at twice!

Steering was fine but there was a very slight wobble on the steering, no one else saw it as an issue, started to think it was just me...

Think I got used to it as a foible of an old car, lets see if it suddenly vanishes!

Should know by the end of the week.

Looking forward to the results... I too had a bit of vibration/wobble at highway speeds that appeared after a few years actually (I had replaced the ball joints prior to this so that was not an issue). I was thinking wheels needed a re-balance. I changed the struts/shocks this spring and with a subsequent alignment - my vibration disappeared without a re-balance. The shop that did the alignment screwed up the camber initially - the symptoms were very heavy steering although otherwise seemed fine. Once corrected all was well.

So they are back and looking very nice.

Fronts are perfect but there are a few signs of pitting on the rears but I doubt many will notice.

Now colour is lighter than the photo in the daylight and I know the crests are pointing the wrong way (Call me a rebel!)

You'll be fine until they are mounted on the car.

At that point half a dozen bearded old men in anoraks come round and beat you with a balance shaft belt until you line them up with the valve [:D]

Thank God I have those twisty things, they don't require such perfection [:D]

(And before anyone says anthing, my car came fitted with some horrendous 18 inch things, I couldn't find a set of D90's for sensible money and believe me the twistys are much better ! )
