Aaarrrggghhh. Me as well.

18.30 last night at work a guy reversed into the passenger door. At least he had the decency to come and find me. The only damage to his car was a scrape of my paint on his bumper whereas my door is well and truly **cked. He seems to think a plunger from Halfords and a bit of "T Cut" will sort it, boy o boy has he got a surprise coming. The most annoying thing is that everyone will be able to laugh at it at Silverstone at the weekend.

Arrrg, commiserations [:(]

Look on the bright side though, you should be able to get a fresh coat of paint down the entire side. If they try to paint only the door you will end up with shade differences [&o]

Clouds and silver linings ...

Be very clear (polite, but clear) about the fact that it may be an old car but you won't 'settle for' a cheap repair. Everyone seems to think that a given amount of bodywork damage on an old car will be cheaper than the same damage on a new car, in proportion to the value differential between the cars. At least you have your man, which is the most important thing. (Compared with the other 'Aaargh' thread running at the moment ... ) And if he is honest enough to come and find you he's likely to play things with a fairly straight bat. (Hopefully.)

Oli.

Took the car into Carrs Body Centre at Exeter (Porsche body shop) this morning for repair. Estimate in the region of 3k and I'm now driving around in an 18 month old BMW Z4 ragtop for the next 2 weeks, unfortunately they couldn't supply a Boxter. Roll on when I get the 944 back as it's like a pair of old comfortable shoes compared to the Z4.

For a door? Blimey. You're very lucky it wasn't written off for that amount of claim. [&o]

Hi Paul

Good to meet you at Silverstone on Sunday with John Tassler. Apparently Porsche don't supply door skins so it has to be a new bare door with all the innards etc. swapped over plus a repaint of the full side of the car. I did query the write off situation and was assured that the car was too good to write off especially as it is a third party claim !!!

Glad its getting sorted. Saw the car looking sorry for itself at silverstone it is a very good example.
Cheers.
Mike
