ABD light solved!

JB 3.2

New member
I have posted a number of questions on the forum regarding the ABD light which keeps illuminating as a fault on my C4. I may regret this but I think its finaly solved.

The light would come on for no apparent reason on some journeys and on others it would not. I purchased the Durametric diagnostic software which indicated a fault with the brake light switch although I could not find anything wrong.

The problem appears to be that the previous owner of the car had changed the rear light bulbs for the LED type, and replacing these with a nomal bulb appears to have cured the problem. I suspect the voltage or current draw from the LED was providing an incorrect reading to the ECU which in turn was showing a fault.

Cost of repair was £2 which you don't get very often on these cars, although I did purchase the Durametric kit as well.

Thought I would let you know in case anyone else has a similar problem.

Maurice, thank you for the honour of the 'spanners' they will be worn with pride.

Mark, Durametric has found a number (8 in toatal) of other faults in addition to the ABD light, all relating to the heating and air conditioning system. The car had the aircon overhauled prior to purchase and it works well so I'm hoping they are all old faults which have not been cleared from the system.
