Abnormal boost gauge reading

I've noticed that when I have ignition on / engine not running my boost gauge reads 0.5 bar, not 1 bar as it should be. Is this likely to be an issue with the KLR, or just the gauge? I do also have an strange issue on cold startup where the engine appears to run very rich, hunting and smoking but clears after driving about a hundred yards or so. Could this be related? Any Ideas on this?

No experience with Turbos but since the KLR receives signals from the DME to influence ignition - they are related. I think you'll need to go through the DME test plan for turbos (here is a link http://www.arnnworx.com/dme-data.htm ) to isolate your problem.

It does seem that you are getting extra fuel on cold start which might be as simple as your ISV is not providing additional air when cold which would balance the mixture. This doesn't explain your abnormal boost gauge reading tho - perhaps the DME test plan will shed some light on that?
 
Could be idle valve related, I guess. The wiring on the car is a bit iffy, I'm pretty certain it's an electrical issue. I'll just have to go right through it, and check every input to the DME and KLR as I go.
