ABS Brake Pulsing

Hi Hope somebody can give me any advice.

I recently test drove a 1996 C4 which im on the verge of purchasing.

All looks ok and i got Carlton Porscha in Wakefield to give the car an inspection.
This threw up a few minor issues which the Trade seller has said he will put right.
ie missing aerodynamic covers on the underside, blowing exhaust, minor oil leak and illegal rear light. (apparently it was all red instead of red & orange)
All these issues are being rectified before i buy it .

The only issue that did concern me was the brakes.
Although the brakes were good, there was a faint ABS pulsing from the brake pedal even when braking gently from any speed. The garage that carried out the inspection said this would need further investigation. Furthermore at this point i'm unsure whether the seller will foot the bill. Any ideas ?
ps is a trade seller obliged to foot the bill for such work prior to sale ?

Any feedback would be welcomed.

If they're not interested in sorting out your concerns, then walk away.
There should be no issues with anything to do with brakes when buying the car[8|]!

So did Carlton Porscha not give a diagnosis of this?
It's got to be a damaged disk. You need to replace at least a pair. If the car has not been used much recently it might just be some heavy rusting on parts of the disks. But like others say the trade seller clearly needs to sort this out - quite likely to be more expensive than the other items on your list.

Thanks for all of your valuable input. The seller has agreed to put the brake problem right at his expense.
One other question though. While examining the vehicle Carlton Porscha claimed that the rear lights were illegal because they were red all the way around instead of having orange indicators. I always thought that the C2 had orange rears and the C4 had red. Can anybody clarify this as im concerned that i'll end up picking it up with the wrong lenses fitted.

The C4 spec (and pictures in bouchure of the time) show it with red looking rear lenses (and white front ones). But when you take them out and examine them it's only a thin layer, inside there is a load of orange and so when they blink they are the correct orange colour.

In fact the bouchure almost says "despite the fact that we have fleeced you for a bundle of cash for some technology other drives will not see and you won't have skills to make use of, we have made the lights look different too so anoraks will know how much you have spent....."

One day I might get to learn how to benefit from my C4. I was very keen to find one for dealing with slippery Scottish roads.

Good luck in closing the deal. Sounds like the seller is doing the right things.
