started the engine [:)]

so got a running car almost No boost, No power steering, no brakes

so added the brake fluid and bled the system ......got a perfect firm pedal first go....chuffed[:)]

but the ABS light is still on, does not go out after engine start,
got brake lights, grounds are good, going to bridge out the relay tomorrow, then replace the relays on the pump, Anything else I should try? Any tips welcomed

I'm out of my comfort zone if it don't work first time[]

Not sure if it's right but I've read with the ignition on turning the disc of the caliper you are bleeding moves fluid through the ABS unit.

So am I correct in thinking the sensors have No effect until the car moves? Or does the system check for them when the engine is started but car is stationary?
I was ruling them out as the light stays illuminated on engine start?

The system will check they are all present and correct (basically look for a correct resistance for each one on startup) and then look for a plausible speed signal from each one when the car starts moving.

Car needs to move for ABS unit to check for pulses from each wheel, you can hear a noise after 20 yards when the ABS has sorted itself.
