Having had the fun of getting out the rear two ABS sensors....looked at the fronts and these are in a pretty interesting spot....so....does anybody know if an OPC can test the ABS sensors without removing them...as sadly when I switched back on the ABS warning light remained on...so at least I know it's not the rear ABS sensors !

Thanks !

Alan,

They just need to hook up to the OBD port and it will tell if the sensors are OK. Any OPC or indie can do it, if they have the eqiupment, it is a hand held gadget.

That's true, our ABS sensor was on... got a local specialiest to hook up the diags which point straight away to the problem... Front NS sensor... Since had this replaced costing an hours labour and cost of the sensor...

Just in case you plan on replacing it yourself, I talked to the guys who did ours and they don't bother drilling out the old sensors like most people, they disassemble the hub, knock off the top part of the sensor, and then knock the remaining part through the hub. They say this is quicker and easier...

Cheers Adam.

Depends if it's your ABS light that's on or if you need to actually test them. Any Bosch specialist can plug their laptop in, but it won't necessarily tell you if there's a problem; the only way to really check them is connect them up one by one to an oscilliscope

I've been having fun and games with my ABS for a year now. The ABS light came on. Had it hooked up by both a Bosch place and 9M, and no errors were reported. So I had all the sensors replaced. Light still came on, and even worse the ABS came on whenever you pressed the brake (although an emergency stop on a dual carriageway fixed it temporarily). The new sensors must have jogged something in the main unit. Since then I've had the main unit and the brain replaced, and it still comes on but not so bad. Next plan is to get the wiring loom checked as I'm told the ABS wiring can corrode in the front wings... but any other ideas are welcome
