As the warmer weather approaches, I thought I would try to resolve my non functioning air conditioning. Following assistance from a refrigeration engineer, we have ruled out gas leaks, lack of charge etc. So it was narrowing down to a failed compressor clutch coil, or the subject line protective device.
Having checked the switch, it is open circuit, so I assume failed or stuck. Bypassing the switch allows the cool rush of air I've been missing, so nothing wrong with the clutch coil. I can get by in the short term leaving the shorting wire in place, but I' m not happy leaving a safety device bypassed in the long run.
Now my dilemma, how easy or difficult is it to change/repair the offending switch? The sensor probe disappears into the bulkhead, so I'm not inclined to dabble without calling on anyone with experience of changing this device and any steer where I might source, is it a main dealer part only?
Any guidance will be much appreciated.
