ACCELL RACING - Performance Chip

Guest

I have purchased an Accell Racing performance chip but am sightly reluctant to install it until either I get some assurance from fellow 964 drivers that the chip is fine and runs well or I book a rolling road to get the fueling checked both before and after the chip change.

Have any of you fitted one of these to an otherwise standard 964? If so what were the result and are there any drawbacks?

Also are there any substantive grounds for their claims of +15bhp and increase the rev limiter by 200 rpm?

Many thanks in advance

Matthew

Did you buy that of ebay? I got one of ebay but cant find who made it in my history

If it is the same chip, i fitted it myself with some telephone support from the guy. Got a slightly better mpg and increased revs not a great noticable difference, the mpg could be from the shell optimax i'm using.

It does fell a little quicker , 15bhp isn't that much more. The guy was very helpfull on the phone and even offered to do the swap for me if i sent him the unit.

I know that doesnt help to much if I cant tell you its the same chip, post the ebay link and ill know the ad if that helps.

Thanks Johno.

I called a chap who also bought one off ebay and he said that he could feel the difference after fitting the chip but said that it made the more responsive and ticked over better but did not say that there was any marked power increase but recommended it so I will fit it this weekend.

I will still get the fueling checked all the same just for my own peace of mind.

well I finally fitted the chip over the weekend and to be honest apart from being generally smoother and the higher rev limiter, it does not seem any faster.

I plan to pop her on a rolling road as soon as my cat replacement pipe arrives and is fitted so that should be within a week or two.

I'll keep you posted with the results.[;)]

Yes thats was about what I got from it.

I did wonder if mine had been chipped before so no increase etc but you do get an extra few revs at the top end ;-)
