Access to A-pillar

Just got my Becker radio with Bluetooth and need to get access to the driver's side A-pillar to route the microphone/cable through. Any suggestions / recommendations for how to access there.

Presumably I'll need to get the A-pillar trim off (is there a trick to this), but I guess I can fish the cable from there to the centre console without problem. I have a cable/fishing rod if that may help.

Thanks,
Martin.

You will find instructions in the Technical Articles section for the footwell lighting retrofit, which shows how to remove the A pillar trim. You probably can't access that section, as your forum membership hasn't been upgraded since you joined the club. Send me an email and I'll attach them to a reply.

Edit: Footwell lighting, not rain sensor, although the trim has to come off for that too!

For the benefit of others, here is an extract from the DIY:

Next, remove the "˜A' pillar trim. This unclips from the "˜A' pillar and roof sides. Remove the coat hook by carefully inserting a broad blade screwdriver in the bottom and gently levering outwards. The coat hook will pop off. Then remove the philips screw securing the top of the "˜B' pillar trim. I found that it wasn't necessary to remove the 'B' pillar trim completely (as shown in the manual "" diagrams below). Starting at the back, unclip the trim along the roof and down the "˜A' pillar.

Thanks Richard ... got the Becker installed this afternoon - instructions for A-pillar were very useful.

The new stereo is working OK, but now when I lock the car I get a single beep from the horn about 2s after locking the car. Any ideas what could be causing that ?

There is a brown wire with a blue tracer connected to the original stereo that signals the alarm system when the stereo is removed (stolen). I think you need to insulate this connection.

Yes - thanks. I found that the original CDR22 has an insulated patch on its left hand side, which when the radio is in position keeps the anti-theft circuit open. So I put some insulating tape on the Becker in the same position. This has has resolved the alarm beep and will also mean that if the radio is attempted to be removed, the alarm should go off.
