Access to Aircon rads

A little while ago in another thread it was mentioned that leaves and debris against the aircon radiators can lead to local corrosion and a leak. I'm assuming these radiators are those I can see at the bottom of the main engine cooling rads, but how do you get in there to clear it out?

This is the thread you are looking for:

I cheated; took my car to the OPC to see if my lights were a bit high as I was getting people flashing full beam at me on A roads; well, they were fine but while they were looking at the lights I asked very politely if they can remove the leaves for me and they did...[:)]

Blimey! Looks like the Boxster designers live somewhere without trees and hence leaves - I thought there would be some easy way to remove the slats on the opening and stick your arm in, or a panel you could remove beneath the rads! Too sensible maybe? Will have to revert to original plan - 11 yr old son's skinny arm - still attached to him of course [;)]

They simply unclip (as a unit each side).

The trouble is they only unclip from the back - meaning you have to take the bumper off first!

You need a long cardboard tube squashed down so that it passes through the grill and reaches down to the debris in front of the radiator then you conect a vacum cleaner to the other end and suck it all out. (The debris that is)

Guys, there is a big difference between hoovering out a few leaves and cleaning between the engine rads and the aircon rads. You wouldn't believe the amount of stuff that accumulates.

Getting the front off as Marks link, is easy if you are half handy with a spanner (so to speak - as a spanner is not needed!) and well worth doing if you want to do a proper job.
