hi everyone

I have been an audi owner for years and always contributed and used the audi forums and found them invaluable and the people really helpful and friendly. This forum looks similar but this is my first post here as I'm a very new porsche owner......

I have just bought a cat c 53 porsche cayenne with views to do a 957 techart conversion and keep the car as I simple cannot afford a 957 techart! lol

I will be letting a garage do most of the repair work and I will do the body work conversion but for now I need to know how to unlock the steering and remove the ignition key as it the steering wheel is locked and the key will not release from the ignition? I just need to be able to manoeuvre the car and I want to lock it up safe for now so this is my first issue to resolve.

Does anyone know what I need to do to free up the steering and the key? Also does the car have some kind of crash reset switch? I'm sure I read this somewhere but you can't believe all you read in my experience!

Thanks in advance for any help, it's greatly appreciated

Hi

I would suggest, for security purposes, you contact Porsche Cars at Reading to obtain the info that you need.

Have fun and good luck

There is an emergency release button to release the key in the event of a flat battery, i belive from memory its a small (ball point pen size) button next to the key.

may sound stupid, but if it has the automatic gearbox have you put it into Park ??? if its not in P it wont release the key.

and to start it you need it in P and have foot on the brake pedal.

simple stuff, but if you havent had an automatic car before, easy to miss.

If the airbags has gone off, you need to press the yellow button on the power distributor near the battery.
