Accuboost Controller Question

Busy installing my Boost Controller, but I'm having (typically) problems.

Firstly, instruction number one states that I loosen the Banjo (done that bit) and disconnect the pipe by losening the jubilee clip - err but I can't, it's a crimp finish.

Also, the tubing is a different diameter to the one supplied, so even if i could get it off, it wouldn't fit on the outlet side of the controller (too big). And if I used the supplied tubing, it wouldn't fit on the other end where the original larger pipe comes from the banjo.

Anybody else had this problem? Anyone got a solution other than using some wierd air-line connectors I have?

Is there a different type of Banjo, and would it be easier getting one of those and a new length of pipe?

Mine was a good fit on the Turbo. I would visit the local Pirtek or Hose Doctor place & try to get a different banjo.

I had this issue when I installed my MBC and ended up usin a reducing union to go from the cut rubber hose an inch or so from the crimped banjo fitting down to the purisil tubing. However i'm told that if you remove the crimp (which is just doing the same job as a jubilee clip) you have a normal union and can slip the hose off the banjo bolt and slip on your new hose and secure with a Jubilee clip. Because I had the reducing union I didn't need to do this. I'm not sure how you'd remove the crimp though - maybe with a hacksaw or some good strong tin snips or something.

It's been a while since I ran with that setup but from memory the short hose attached to the banjo slips over the bottom outlet of the Accuboost and the supplied hose slips over the side outlet. The other end of the supplied hose then slips over the metal pipe that you originally pulled the banjo hose off.

You do not need to be cutting off any crimp (mine is still crimped) though you may want to trim the length of both hoses so it looks a little neater in there. I actually bought a S/H banjo pipe from a breakers so I could keep my original pipe un-trimmed [&:]

There is a picture of the accuboost installed at http://www.promax.uku.co.uk/ in the page titled boost controller

........ the short hose attached to the banjo slips over the bottom outlet of the Accuboost

The hose attached to the Banjo has a larger diameter than the Barbed fitting - i.e even with a jubilee clip very tight, this would be the only thing keeping it in place, and it would probably leak air.

and the supplied hose slips over the side outlet.

That would work.....

The other end of the supplied hose then slips over the metal pipe that you originally pulled the banjo hose off.

The supplied hose is too narrow to fit over the metal pipe.......

I don't want too, hence I haven't! Plus I would assume the barb underneath is to big for the supplied pipe any way.

Looks like I'm off to Reducer Couplings R Us, followed by Rubber Pipes R Us.[&:]
