Ace Cafe, tomorrow night 25th February

Is anyone planning on going to this meet tomorrow, the weather forecast is a clear sunny day and warm, I may pop down if other 944's are going?

Pete

I hate driving down there. Plus I reckon I've only needed to use the headlamps 2 or 3 times in over 10 years.

Looks like no takers then?....oh well...perhaps a drive to the coast instead...:)

I just could not face the traffic down there in rush hour, then have 90% of the 911 owners sneer down their noses at our FE cars

Oh I'm more than happy to put any ill informed 911 owners straight on which car is superior....they don't need to take my word for it, I can direct them to plenty of road tests and statements given by Porsche themselves as to which is best/fastest both on the road and track....:)

Sorry pete ,

im not fully. On the road yet Only just maybe sorted out the radiator today infact! ( boy it felt good to turn that key and hear it start first time and purrrr ??)

As one of the two London organisers of the Ace Cafe meet, the meet is always inclusive and welcoming. If any of you get any sneering point them our way.

At last months 'cold' meet several transaxle owners braved the cold and the traffic and had a great time.

Thank's Nick, I havebeen there a number of times alone, it doesn't worry me, I usually bump into someone that I know and the car always attracts people. It's just that I fancied meeting up with more 944 owners for a change, I'm trying to use the car a lot more this year..perhaps next month.

Cheers

Pete

I would love to rock up sometime but 300 + miles is a long haul ( one way) plus it's in bits as it was for most of last year, when back together I will be putting some miles on it.
911 lot can sneer all they want, I have one and i am more than qualified to put them right, most of them will never have sat in a sorted 944...............boils my pee that craic !
[]

I don't think that I would do a 600 mile trip for an evening meet either Jim...:).. I just ignore silly comments made by owners of other models...in general they know nothing about Porsche's, including whatever car they may be driving. Moving on to other 944 news today...I see on FB there is video of the first car to beat the McClaren 720s on the dragstrip..yep it's a Porsche 944...mind you it's an unusual car, it's 'electric'....amazing bit of video...left the McClaren for dust..:) I decided not to go tonight, spent the evening with my son modifying his Cossie block. Main job was to tap the oil holes from block to head, machine up some plugs with a 4mm hole through them, cut a 10mm thread to match that tapped into the block, cut a slot to use a flat screwdriver for screwing the plugs in, and some thread sealant to finish. The idea is to reduce overoiling to the head and keep it where it's needed most in the block. Next job is to machine 5 semi holes equally around each piston on top ring to allow the engine to hold more boost. The target for this engine is a conservative 500bhp....the things one does for his son's....:)

Back in the 90's there was a stroker kit that took the engine to a 2.4, is that still a thing in the Sierra Cosworth tuning world?

Not sure, I've not heard of it but then I'm not 'Cossie' mad like my son and his friends. I don't think any others in his circle have a stroker kit fitted. I don't see the point as these engines are well know for easily developing more than double the stock bhp with the original 2 ltr's.
If I remember I'll ask my son tomorrow as he's popping over to do a little more work on the engine.

It was more for bottom end than outright power. To get the big numbers you used to need a big turbo and a big intercooler, and that was laggy.

Ah..yes in comparrison to the 951 the lag is massive, I think that's part of the appeal.....:)

If you fancy a trip in March or April give me a shout. It‘s not a million miles from me.

thanks
