adaptive seats ?

Peely

New member
Probably a silly question, but can someone explain the exact difference between these and normal electric heated memory seats ?

I thought the seat side bolsters where adjusted automatically depending on how spirited the driving was, only someone in an OPC, not mentioning names or anything told me they where exactly the same ?

they are NOT the same.adaptive seats are about £2000 more(at least)!!than normal heated seats
go on the configurator and you will see

No, I didn't mean price wise, I meant what are the different effects with adaptive seats ?

normal heated seats are normal heated seats.
adaptive seats are essentially sports seats which have extra electrically enabled adjustments which can further enhance the sporty/supportive nature of the seats -my simply put understanding-i am sure others have more technical explanations!

The basic sports seats have electrically adjustable back-rests only. Manual fore-and-aft adjustment. The adaptive sports seats electrify everything and add a memory function which can be key dependent so that in the unlikely situation you risk domestic harmony by letting your MSO drive the car, the seat can adjust based on whoever's key is in use.

The adaptive sport seat also has adjustable bolsters which are basically bladders inside the seat - all more to go wrong and my Mercedes SL55 currently sounds like I'm sitting on a whoopy cushion because something has sprung a leak.

I have the adaptive seats on my car but I would be more than happy with the basic sports seat. I find the standard seats lack lateral support and I assume they are intended for Americans who need to be winched into position.

Some of the best seats Porsche make..
I'd certainly spec them again, the electric memory is a valauble option to me.
However I accept the cost to them fitted in a Turbo is not £2000- as I'd think twice at that cost..

Adaptive seats were £1006 extra for BY2007. Not cheap but I would include them on a future spec list. Although the inflatable bolsters are "something else to go wrong" this can be said of so many features on modern cars but I wouldn't want to go back to using the starting handle that came with my first car[:D].

Thanks guys !

As I thought really, but I thought they adjusted automaticaly depending on the driving style that was going on at the time, and not manually ?

Maybe me getting confused with a previous BMW spec on the M5 ?

I suppose I could live with just the standard sports seats.............but I think they would have to be heated as I've had those in the last 3 cars, so think I would miss them, especially on mornings like these ?! [&:]
