Addendum Noise Great News

Take heart all you flat sixers, help is at hand to cure your awful engine rattles and rasping.

ACTIVE NOISE is about to be fitted to the new Honda Legend .It creates an opposite phase signal thru the audio system and cancels unwanted sound.Im sure someone can retro fit it for you.
 
Active Noise Control, a lot of money spent very little and inconsistent results....
We did some of the research when it was all starting, back in the 80's. for airoplane noise cancelation... MSc in Sound & Vibtation from ISVR, Southampton Uni.
With today's computational power I suppose it could be done, but very expensively; but then you buy a Porsche or any other similar car for the engine sound....!!!?

Don't forget - it's Honda that are going to fit it. Not sure Honda owners buy the cars for its engine note.

Actually, I'm not sure they can hear much at all. Do Hondas come with an induction loop for the stereo? [:D]
 
Presumably you could cancel out certain frequencies (like tyre noise) to hear the engine noise more clearly?

Alternatively, you could go for the exisiting active noise control device, the Sport Exhaust![:D]
