So ive just bought a 996 (facelift) and am wondering what optional extras I can retrofit and if possible quite keen to DIY.I'm a qualified Control systems engineer so I am sure i can get to grips with 911 electrcis given a diagram or two

In an earlier post of mine someone mentioned being able to fit rain sensors, cruise control etc etc

Anyone got any info ?

Shame there wasn't a project froum on here or am i just not looking or searching properly ;)

Cheers in advance

Steve

Take a look at www.renntech.org. You have to register (free), but you'll find loads of info. Some of the ones I have done are OBC, Cruise and Rain Sensor Wipers. I've also fitted HID lights, a 3-spoke wheel, my own rear storage box (see 996 DIY on renntech - Edit: and in the Tech Articles section of this forum). Others are Spoiler switches, footwell lights, etc. If you need any info on cruise or OBC (it varies with model year) let me know as I have some simplified model-specific wiring diagrams and parts lists.

PCM and telephone module; little bit of a nightmare and not cheap, but I think it''s worth it.

systems engineer hey..., right then here's what to do. Book your car in to www.wrightune.co.uk and get all the bits done you can possibly think of (don't worry the investment will be worth every penny) but then study everything they do photograph it and then take notes.
Practise on a few of your mates cars everything that you have learnt and then offer a home installation service (getting to oxfordshire isn't always that easy) for all of us who arn't that way inclined. Book me in as your 30th customer (you should be pretty handy by then) and then I'll have all the toys I should have ordered in the first place, cruise, PCM, heated seats............
You'll make a mint .............
p.s. if it really takes off, offer everything free to your 30th customer
