Adding second stereo head unit

Eye in the Sky

New member
I have been thinking how I can install a second head unit in addition to the PCM. Reason being I am tired of waiting to get a Denison or Neo Ipod interface to the MOST bus. And also I can add in DAB and a couple of Amplifiers to give muscle to the audio. Maybe some DVD units as well.

Does anyone have similar ideas or know how I get this going?

Possible locations of second head unit:

1. where the ashtray is,
2. passenger sidewell;
3. centre console box
4. below passenger seat.

I prefer it to be where the ashtray is for convenience of access and asthetics.

Your best bet for advice on this would be one of the american board - rennlist etc, failing that then get a speacialist ICE magazine and ring round a few ads in the back till you find one thats worked on KNs.
Sorry can't help more.

Did you ever get round to fitting the second headunit?
Have you looked at the Alpine VehicleHub?
Came out this year and is designed to interface to a factory headunit yet provide scope for more AV sources, iPods, DAB, Amplifiers and dts and Dolby ProLogic surround modes. Worth pursuing though make sure you trust the installer

I will look closely at this. Thanks for giving the heads up. I hope it will work with MOST bus in the Porsche which is a big headache for compatibility with 3rd party solution. I will post something back shortly.

I think this might work. It requires a 3rd party adapter to connect the VehicleHub to the PCM. I am trying to find out any UK installers might know how to do this. Is there anyone else checking this thing out?
