Adjusting headlight 'closed' position - how?

Chaps,

There have been various references to adjusting headlights on this forum, but no definitive 'how to' guide. There have also been some great pictures, but I can't seem to find them ...

Can anyone talk me through, step-by-step, how to adjust the 'closed' position of the headlights? The off-side one on my S2 doesn't quite sit flush with the bonnet and badge panel when it is down, and I'd quite like to adjust it so that it does.

All help welcomed ... thanks.

No Mik, it's too low, not too high.

So without resorting to one of these:

... what's the 'proper' way of doing it? [&:]

Each pop up assembly is attached to the shell by six bolts via a pair of "triangles" (three bolts on each).
The inner triangle is easily visible with the bonnet raised, the nearside one often showing a shim or two, the outer one is accessible via the opening in the plastic wheel well, but it's a pig of a job to adjust and hopefully adjusting the inner one will be enough.

My offside headlight pod doesn't sit square within the aperture, so I'd like to adjust it. I'm following this thread with great interest and hoping there's an easy solution. Or should I just leave well alone? Someone on another thread eluded to it being the sort of job you don't wish on your worst enemy!

If its not sitting square as above.

If its not flush with the badge panel -

Lift the bonnet.
Look for the long bar which rotates to lift the lights.
At either end there is a black bracket which bolts to the body with 2 M6 bolts.
Loosen these bolts slightly and you will see the bracket is slotted.
Sliding this bracket forward and back a short distance will slightly raise or lower the relevant light.
Position and re-tighten.
Job done.
