Adjusting seat rails for tall drivers

Santa must have thought I was a good lad this year as he very kindly gave me a copy of Adrian Streather's Enthusiasts Companion book. There is some great stuff in it and I have just found a small piece on adjusting the seats for tall drivers by adding some 3 mm washers to the rear securing points.

I think I'll add this to my project list because I could do with the extra 22.5 mm it claims to give in leg room. Has anyone else done it?

I could do with an extra 22.5 mm of headroom as well. Does anyone have any tips on how to further lower the seat a tad?
