There is not much that I wouldn't tackle on my 944, but after tonight there is one thing I never want to touch again and that is the rear window aluminium trim piece that presses into the window rubber, it seems once it gets slightly twisted or distorted it isn't going to fit back in. Has anybody done this and have the knack and would like to share it ?

I got mine back in by spraying silicone lubricant into the rubber seal where the part fits and then putting a piece of cloth around the metal trim and using a vice with soft grips to straighten the trim.
It's not easy or something I fancy doing again any time soon (which is a shame as I have to remove those windows again). Hope it doesn't cause you too much trouble.

I remember reading a method for refitting the rear windows on the Clark's Garage website "¦
He does also say that it's a real pain.
Install the rear window glass by wrapping a piece of heavy string around three sides of the window inside the groove of the rubber trim piece (top, front, and bottom side but not the back side).
Insert the back edge of the glass into the window opening with the groove of the rubber trim piece on the lip of the window opening (ends of the string on the inside of the car).
While holding the glass against the outside of the car, start pulling one end of the string from inside the car. This will pull the rubber trim piece over the lip of the window opening.

It is something thats causing me great trouble, so much so its getting left without the trim pieces on until I calm down. I didn't have any trouble fitting the window its just the trim piece, even with the window out of the car and on the bench I can't get the pesky trim to fit properly without popping out, grrrrrrrr !
