Advice for a (Soon-to-be) Newby Owner.

All being well I should be collecting my 911 Targa this week to replace my 944.

I took the advice of other 944 owners and kept a spare DME relay with me, although never had to use it in anger.

In a similar vein, is there anything you experienced Carrera owners would advise is worth carrying in the car?

Also, has anyone fitted a high-level, third brake light to their Targa?

Thanks.

Les Richards

(Hoping I'll like the 911 as much as I've enjoyed the 944!!)

Hi Les - Apart from the standard tool kit and ensuring you have the tyre inflator for the spare wheen the most important thing any
classic car owner can carry is a phone!

Enjoy you new car.

John

Targa was my first 911.

Another thing about the spare wheel is to actually inflate it. Most spare wheels have never been used.

Is the DME relay the one under the left hand seat with the 6-pole connector ?

Looks like a pig to fit a new one, I suppose you just plug the spare in loose until you get home ?

Best advice i can give you apart from this forum etc, is to buy one of the guides ( before you buy ) peter moragn ( the ultimate buyers guide ) it took me three yars to find my car, get a good one and it should keep you smiling.

The relay is under the passenger seat. I undid the nut or screw that holds it to the floor before unplugging it. I am guessing though that I could just pull the socket off it and fit it to the new loose relay without too much difficulty.
Mine is the original and still works fine even after 100K+miles.
