Advice needed...

Hi

The big question is whether I sell the 944 now, or keep it till the spring and sell it then. It's got to go, we've got no parking at home and the 987 Boxster is sitting in the parking space I rent. If I sell it in the spring it should be a bit easier to move on, but is it going to be worth all the hassle of finding somewhere to store it in the meantime? It's a 1986 2.5 Lux so I imagine that it's been immune from the recent price rises.

I'd imagine that the general advice would be to keep the car, however - no parking at home, it's Central London so to rent parking would be expensive. No mechanical skills of my own coupled with a workaholic lifestyle mean that I want a car I can get into turn the key and go without worry. The Boxster fits that to a T, plus I absolutely adore it. So the 944 will need to go.

in summary - sell now, or spend money to store until spring and sell then? Oh, and if anyone's after a 944 that's not perfect but has been serviced with no regard to expense (>£8k spent over my ownership at RPM Teknik, Ninex, Tower Porsche) let me know... Belts due, bit of a frill on left hand side sill.
thanks
Ian

difficult decision....all 944's have been effected by the increase in values..I just took a quick look at autotrader...the price of a good (low mileage one owner) 944 2.5 1986 is just slightly above the cheapest 987..you could probably buy two good 987's for the price of a turbo these days, such is the market...if you could find one that is. Just to make your decision a little harder, the thing to consider that whereas the boxster is currently devaluing the 944 is just the opposite....
To answer your question directly you always get more as the warmer weather returns, when spring is in the air..the rest of my rambling is just food for thought...:)
Regards

Pete

I don't think prices will rocket up in 2 or 3 months time, so you may as well advertise it now. Presumably it may take a while to sell, so best to get on with it IMO if you have decided (and it seems like you have decided)

Having recently sold Ian, for very similar reasons regarding time etc., I got told to wait by many until post Easter. That turned out to not be wholly true though, it may well have gone quicker then but I believe it's gone now for exactly the same money. I wouldn't have taken any more for it in warmer weather, so why not advertise now........just be a bit more patient finding the right buyer. They are out there though

Good luck with the sale

Mike

Sorry guys but I'm new to this forum stuff, All i wanted was to get some idea of a project and what an older 944 preferably Black would be.
I asked one of the secretarys who mentioned.... nick_ .... who's 944 might be for sale.

A bit misleading but this seems to be wasting everybody's time.
Thanks anyway. BW

Hi Brian

yes, it's me who's got a 944 for sale. PM me if you'd like to discuss...
cheers
Ian
