Advice on buying a Boxster for the Wife

I am after some advice please. My wife would like a Boxster for weekend fun as she isn't comfortable driving my cars [8|]

In an ideal world she would like a Red or Blue car with Black interior, but I appreciate the budget I have may restrict colour choice. She doesn't want Silver or a car with Red or Savannah interior!

The budget is ideally upto £7,000 so I need to know what that will get me and what options I need to be looking for. The car must be a manual but other than that a good service history is all that is needed.

What issues do I need to look out for and is there much difference between the 2.5, 2.7 and 3.2 engines regarding performance and reliability?

And if there is anyone who has a suitable car or knows of one for sale any links/pictures would be appreciated [:)]

34 cars UK wide on Autotrader meeting your criteria but most Blue are with Savannah interiors restricting choice further. 6 red cars

Personally I'd prefer a private (ideally PCGB) owner with a good/full history from either a specialist or OPC. Main brand 'N' rated tyres a fair sign the owner hasn't scrimped on cost. Probably should budget on some repairs - my '05 car with 25k miles is needing money spent on it. An inspection from an indy might be worth thinking about.

Have a look on the forums searching on RMS and IMS

Good luck and let us know how you get on

Suggest if she has not yet driven a Boxster take her for a test drive prior to opening your wallet.

She has driven Boxsters previously and my 944's and 964 but the value of my cars worries her so she would rather have her own 'toy'

Try and get a car that has heated seats, my wife Boxster has them and she can drive when its dry all year round with the hood down.

my wife knows she's much more valuable than any car I'll own ;-) so wouldn't worry at all!!!
that said ,she always preferred driving the cayman s or boxster s than my rear engined three!!
Lets hope that continues when the 991 arrives!!
good luck with the hunt!
all the best
