Advice on buying an SC

Hi,

My first 911 was a '83 SC which i loved very much. A colleague of mine is looking for one now, he has a budget of around £7k. Whilst i can recommend the SC (whether earlier or later model) I have really lost touch with what these cars are worth, and even where to look for them.

Any help would be appreciated!

PS this colleague of mine is a former Porsche Club GB member , he drove a 944S2 at that time, so it is encouraging to see him go for an air cooled classic!

Thanks very much , JP

JP,
I think you will struggle to get a good one for that money. I think 8K to 12K will be the range.(just my opinion though)
Have a look at piston heads web site for a guide also the Porsche Post and 911&Porsche mag.
Cheers
John

I agree John, the sub-7k SC's are usually more trouble that they're worth. You know how it goes....with 911's more so than other cars.....pay now or pay later!!

I would say around 10k for a decent SC....or pay 7-8k and end up spending 3k on it in the first twelve months []

Tell your friend to have a look over at www.impactbumpers.com loads of info on mid-year 911's there.
