Advice on oil top up reqd please

Chaps,

Approaching 3000 miles now and the motor has used a drop or two of oil as expected. The trouble is I'm not sure exacly how much because the electronic measuring device cant make up its mind whether its on the minimum mark or the one above !

On the basis that overfilling with oil is as bad as not having enough, I was thinking of sticking half a litre of oil in and leaving it at that untill the same scenario comes round again.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards

Yves

Hi Yves
I think each 'bar' is 0.25 litres, so using that yardstick, you should be OK to put in half a litre. Mine used a bit of oil up to about 4k but it's levelled off now.
I pointed out that the level was a bit low when it went in for some recall work and they very kindly returned it topped up with mobil 1 - nice touch![:)]
I'm sure yours will do the same - remember to look at the oil on level ground though.
Cheers
Rob

Thanks Rob,

The manual says each bar is approx 0.4 litres so to press I have put 0.6 litres in which should get her somewhere about two thirds full. Off to the garage in a mo to check.
